Thermal conduction is the process of transferring heat energy through a material from a hot object to a colder one. The transfer of heat energy occurs as a result of collisions between the particles of the materials involved. Good conductors of heat, such as metals, transfer heat energy more quickly than poor conductors, such as plastics or ceramics.
